College of Plant Protection

College of Plant Protection (Former Department of Plant Protection) was founded in 1952. During the long-term development, the college has formed a teaching and research contingent with high academic level and owned a group of experts and academic leaders who has influence to the academic circle at home and abroad. The college currently has 51 faculty members, including 14 professors or research fellows, 15 associate professors, 1 winner of"New Century's Excellent Talent in University, MOE',4 Chongqing's academic leading professors and 1"BaYu" Scholar. The college has three academic departments, Department of Entomology, Department of Plant Pathology, and Department of Pesticide Science.

Our research programs run from applied to molecular. The college now hosts one Key Discipline of Chongqing City (Plant Protection), two Key Laboratories of Chongqing City (Key Laboratory of Entomology and Pest Control Engineering, Key Laboratory of Plant Disease Biology), and a research insect collection. Our research facilities include scanning electron microscope, transmission electron microscope, Quantitative real-time PCR, working-in insect rearing room, screen house, and greenhouse, etc.

College of Plant Protection offers two undergraduate programs (Plant Protection, Pharmaceutical Engineering) leading to a B.S., and graduate programs leading to M.S. and Ph.D. degrees in Plant Pathology, Agricultural Entomology and Pest Control, Pesticide Science, Bio-safety, and Ecology. Continue Education courses, including programs leading to certificates and degrees, are also available. Now there are 140 graduates and 600 undergraduates in the college.

During the last five years, the college has hosted 64 research projects at National and Ministry levels, and major funding agencies include National Natural Science Foundation of China, Ministry of Science and Technology, Ministry of Education, Ministry of Agriculture, and Chongqing Committee of Science and Technology. Over the years' development, the college has established extensive cooperative relationships both at home and abroad.
